Shea's Buffalo Theatre has been named a Distinguished Theatre by the Theatre Historical Society of America, recognizing its remarkable preservation and impact on historic theater culture nationwide.
This honor arrives as Shea's marks its 100th anniversary, commemorating a century since its grand opening in 1926.
Designed by famous firm Rapp and Rapp, the grand 3,019-seat space remains one of America’s most storied movie palaces.
Shea's recently hosted theater historians from across the country during the Western New York Conclave Theatre Tour, where it received this prestigious distinction for its enduring cultural and architectural significance.
Brian Higgins, CEO of Shea’s Performing Arts Center, called the recognition a tribute to Shea’s vital place in Buffalo’s creative life.
Marking the centennial, Shea’s unveiled the $34.6 million “Elevate Shea’s” project to expand and modernize the venue for future generations. Read More... |
